Reset Your Skin’s Natural Complexion

At Discreet Plastic Surgery, we offer a variety of chemical peel options that can address various skin concerns and rejuvenate and refresh your skin.

What Are Chemical Peels?

Your skin is made of two major layers — the dermis and epidermis — as well as several sublayers within. As you grow and mature, your skin constantly replaces the cells of those layers. But as you continue to age, that process slows down, resulting in a tired, wrinkled appearance.

A chemical peel, also known as a derma-peel, is a cosmetic procedure that involves applying a chemical solution to your face to remove the damaged outer layers of skin and smooth your facial texture.

Chemical peels also reduce scarring, blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles, irregular skin pigmentation, scaly patches, and sun-damaged areas.

Chemical peels come in a variety of strengths, but they typically work by causing controlled damage to the skin, which triggers the body’s natural healing process.

How Does a Chemical Peel Work?

A chemical peel uses a chemical solution that causes the top layers of your skin to exfoliate and peel off, revealing smoother fresher skin underneath.

The chemical solution applied to your face is typically made up of one or more types of acid, such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or trichloroacetic acid (TCA). The type and strength of the acid used will depend on your skin type, as well as your goals and concerns.

Using our custom-tailored, patient-specific approach, we can help you optimize results to create a fresh, natural complexion and a healthy, youthful glow. During the procedure, Dr. Doshi or Dr. Kaufman will apply the chemical solution to your skin and leave the peel on for a predetermined amount of time based on your needs and goals.

Your surgeon will then neutralize and remove the solution before moisturizing and protecting your skin. The amount of peeling and downtime will vary depending on the strength of the chemical solution used.

Types of Chemical Peels

At Discreet Plastic Surgery, we offer a variety of chemical peel options to address a wide range of skin concerns. Our experienced team will work with you to determine the best type and strength of chemical peel for your individual needs and goals.

We offer three main types of chemical peels:

  • Superficial peels: Typically made with alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs), this mildest type of chemical peel is great for addressing minor skin concerns, such as dullness, rough texture, and fine lines.
  • Medium peels: This type of chemical peel is made with TCA and can address your more significant skin concerns, such as moderate wrinkles, sun damage, and acne scarring.
  • Deep peels: This type of chemical peel is made with phenol and can address severe skin concerns, including deep wrinkles and extensive sun damage. As the strongest type of chemical peel, deep peels require the longest downtime and recovery period.

What Are the Benefits of Getting a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels can provide you with a variety of benefits, including:

  • Revealing smoother, brighter skin: By exfoliating the top layers of your skin, chemical peels can reveal skin that looks and feels more youthful.
  • Reducing fine lines and wrinkles:Chemical peels can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen production and improving your skin’s texture.
  • Treating acne and acne scarring:By unclogging pores and promoting new skin cell growth, chemical peels can help improve your acne and your acne scarring.
  • Reducing hyperpigmentation:Chemical peels can help reduce hyperpigmentation — including dark spots and uneven skin tone — by removing damaged skin cells and promoting new skin cell growth.
  • Boosting Overall Skin Health:By promoting exfoliation and skin cell turnover, chemical peels can improve the overall health of your face by reducing the appearance of dull, tired skin.

Should You Get a Chemical Peel?

If you feel self-conscious that your scars, blemishes, wrinkles, irregular pigmentation, or sun-damaged areas are making you look older than you feel, then a chemical peel may give you the results you want and need.
